I don’t know what type of business you’re in. I don’t know what you are handing out over there, but my advice is to serve yourself first.

I know what you’re thinking, “shouldn’t we put others before ourselves?”  Absolutely! Let me explain.

The bible tells us in Luke 6:38

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Now, depending on what you are serving, that could be good news or bad news, hence my suggestion.

If you would consider serving yourself before dishing it out to someone else, you could make an informed decision. The real question then becomes, “Is this something I want served to me?” If it is, how large of a serving would I like?”

If you are dishing out judgement by the bucket, hell and damnation, negativity, anger, harshness or resentment would you like the same size serving for yourself? I definitely would not.

I think sometimes we serve things we don’t want served to us. I know I have. I have held a grudge, been unforgiving, mean, short, rude and judgmental, to name a few. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus NOW, so don’t worry.

I now dish, love, laughs, encouragement, prayer, affections, words of affirmation, correction (not judgement) and you know what? I love what I am served. It doesn’t mean I don’t get upset and I don’t want to dish out something a little more harsh when someone has wronged me. But the Holy Spirit has a great way of reminding me of how I have sinned against God and have received unmerited favor and grace despite my short-comings.

How then can I continue to withhold forgiveness or any good thing from someone else? I can’t, I just can’t do it…..well not when I think about it.

I challenge you, before you speak or act, ask yourself would you like God to serve it to you first? If your answer is yes, then pile it on!! He promises to pour out His blessings into your lap.
